Why a new Digest? Plain and simple: no bullshit. As individuals, humans are people. As a group, they become savages. Order is good, and might makes right. I got sick enough of the non-moderated and intolerable nonsense on the original BMW Digest that I got off my big fat ass and put this one together. Things can be 'controlled'.

Not just by me, though... the moderation and control of this BMWUUCDigest will be random and anonymous. At any given time, a different person with a greater or lesser tolerance will be at the controls, ready to kick to the curb anyone that shouldn't be here. Sometimes, a small group of people will have control simultaneously (won't that be interesting?). The monitors will send e-mail from the digestmonitor@uucdigest.com address or the uucadmin@uucdigest.com address.

This attention to order has made the UUC Digest far and away the most popular BMW-interest Digest on the internet.

So be smart, kiddies. Being bad is okay, being stupid is verboten. You know most of the rules, you'll find out the hard way if you break the hidden ones. The most important UUC Digest rule does not have a number at all: Don't say anything via e-mail that you wouldn't say if the receiving person was standing right in front of you. Visualize that person holding a large axe raised above their head if that will remind you to re-read a post before sending it.

List Rules:
  1. Talk about BMWs and related things.
  2. No flaming unless the person really, really deserves it... then fire away! Keep it brief, no extended flame-wars will be tolerated.
  3. Don't waste bandwidth or time - use common sense, don't quote an entire message when a snippet will do.
  4. Private advertising (i.e., my 635CSi is for sale) is allowed. Commercial advertising only by authorized advertisers. Check with the list admin before posting anything commercial. Unauthorized commercial advertising will not be tolerated.
  5. Heed the ListMaster's warnings: excessive flaming, <OT> off-topic posting or <WOB> waste of bandwidth posting will result in subscription termination.
  6. There is no rule number 6.
  7. No whining.
  8. Correct e-mail etiquette is required. Your e-mail must be configured properly so it does not send garbage characters, HTML tags, etc. Use a proper subject header, not just the reply to header. Do not type in ALL CAPS, the 'caps lock' key is right above the 'shift' key, get familiar with it. Bad e-mail will get you booted.
